When the manager told me that I am going to go to Poland by ICTYES+ ( Erasmus Project),I was surprised. It was my first overseas trip. I was going to meet with a lot of people who are from another countries. Before I went to Poland, I have met with my host. His name is Jakub but we call him "Kuba". He is just 14 years old but he is like an adult because he is so kind, open-minded,funny and hospitable person.
Then I went to Poland at 4th of june. I have met with my host's family. They are very kind and hospitable people as much as Jakub. I stayed at their home with Andrea. He is so funny and sport lover. I was really happy to stayed with him for four days. I love every person in this project because everyone is so kind and funny. We have been a lot of places like salt mine, Auschwitz-Birkenau camp ect. They were really wonderful. Salt mine was interesting because we stepped down about 135 meters. But the most impressive part of the trip was Auschwitz because It has a different soul. There are things that have been used by people who has killed by Nazis. I felt so sad when I saw those photographs and shoes, glasses, cells and hairs. Shortly, Everything that I lived in Poland was awesome. It was the best week of my entire life. I hope that I can meet with those people again. Emirhan Erdal |
Being in Poland was really priceless at all points. It was my first time in Święcany, I believe and know that we all made good impressions. We had the same host family with Nazya, and our host family has always been really sincere and nice to us. They made me feel that I'm having a great time with my own family. When I came back to Turkey, I was chatting with Paulina -she was hosting us- and she said "Yesterday my mom was talking with her friend and I heard that she told about you and Nazya that she felt like you were her own children. She loves you sooo much." It made me burst into tears because I really love and miss them, and of course I was really happy to hear it from her mother.
I have learnt Polish as much as I can before going to Poland because I thought that I'll need it and I was right. Polish is hard to learn but it wasn't that hard for me because I tried to learn Slovakian language in the past -well, I couldn't- and I remembered some words, it was a little bit similar to Polish. When we first met with the host family, I introduced myself like "Jestem Zehra" -it means I'm Zehra- and I went on using basic polish words in daily life like dzjękuję bardzo, nie ma za co, dzień dobry, cześć, etc. And it made things easier sometimes. When I first said "Jestem Zehra", Mr. and Mrs. Niziołek had been impressed, and they appreciated that I tried to learn Polish. They didn't know English, but it wasn't really important for me. Because we really love each other, and you don't need the words when you feel someone in your heart. Polish architecture was really impressive. I asked for going to 500-year-old church which is placed in Święcany, and we went to see it with Paulina and Nazya. It was almost praying time and we saw that it is too crowded. We have seen people from the age of 7 to 77. Last day, we went to Auschwitz. It was really bitter and sad. During and after WW2, Poland was a ruined country. When it was all over, Polish people had to rebuild almost everything. It was really a great week as culturally and socially. I will always remember Poland in a good way, with its sincere and friendly Erasmus team. Zehra Kablan |

Thanks to the Erasmus+ project, this trip has contributed a lot to me. It was such an amazing experience to learn new cultures and meet with new people from other countries. It gave us opportunities to make a new friends.
My host and her family’s were definitely best in the Erasmus+ project history. I owe them a lot of things. They were so nice and kind. They opened their house for me. Especially I owe to my host, Agata so much things. She gave me her room and her generosity. I couldn’t imagine that I will find my soulmate on the other side of the world. She became more than a friend to me in just a week. She’s like my sister. And because of this Erasmus+ project, I earned a sister that I will never forget and always can talk with her. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this project for providing me this opportunity. Rüveyda Balıkçı |
